Optimising display updates.

Experimenting with large number (1000 resources and 1000 tasks) I found the painting started to slow down.
I used a quadtree (from to optimise the model generation (only generate those within the scrolling control's view area) as well as drawing the control (only drawing those in the screen area) and finding overlaps (use the quadtree to find shortlist of potential overlaps).
Drawing with 1000 tasks is now just as fast as drawing with 10 tasks. Has anyone else had problems with larger numbers?
